NaNoWriMo 2018: Late to Camp

2018 Writer - Camp NaNoWriMo banner

More than a week into the month, I’ve decided to join the current Camp NaNoWriMo.

Camp NaNoWriMo is a virtual writer’s retreat, designed for maximum flexibility and creativity. We have Camp sessions in both April and July, and we welcome word-count goals between 30 and 1,000,000. In addition, writers can tackle any project they’d like, including new novel drafts, revision, poetry, scripts, and short stories.

This event is a more gathering of writers than the National Novel Writing Month every November.

My project is a collection of short stories that I’ll rewrite, revise, and polish until they’re ready for submissions. I wrote a few of them years ago when my skills and courage were not yet strong enough to tell the intended stories.

Most of the social activity of Camp NaNoWriMo takes place within a cabin. I’m outside of a cabin at this time, making this event feel like an accidental solo retreat. Who else is participating?
